On September 26th, 2009 we were married and began our lives together as husband and wife. Seth's Dad offered to move out of the old Bartlett farmhouse and allow us to move in once we were married. Once we moved in we realized it would take quite a bit to make it feel like home. We spent hours of hard work painting, patching plaster, and decorating. Joanna's parents lended us a hand which helped us out a lot. During our first year, we slowly realized the old house would need even more work if it were to make it in the long run. Seth's Grandpa Bartlett recommended we tear it down and start over with a new house. He said, "It has served its purpose and it's time for a new beginning." With that we began making plans to build a new house. On April 26th, the old place was torn down. It was a bittersweet day but we are excited to build a new home together on the Bartlett Farm!
Seth and Joanna
On September 26th, 2009 we were married and began our journey together as husband and wife. Before our wedding Seth's dad offered to move out of the old farm house on the Bartlett homeplace and let us move in once we were married. We were very excited at the opportunity but we soon realized it would take ALOT of work to make it feel like home. We put in alot of hard work painting, patching plaster and drywall, and hanging pictures. Joanna's parents helped us out with alot of the work and we were very grateful as we have not had alot of experience ourselves with home repair! We slowly began to realize that the old place had seen its better days and in order to make it cozy for the long run it would need ALOT MORE work. We ran the idea of renovating the house past Seth's Grandpa Bartlett and he recommended tearing it all down and starting over with a new home. He said, "you can put in new windows, roof, and siding, and you are still left with a 100 year old house with a new roof, new windows, and new siding. It's served its purpose, it's time for a new one." With that we began making plans to build a new one. Once again Joanna's parents offered their years of experience in homebuilding and helped us get bids and line up subcontractors to build our new home. On April 26th the old house was torn down. It was a bittersweet day but we were excited to get started on building our new home together on the Bartlett Farm!
