A few days ago a big Nor'eastern blew in and we had some pretty strong straight line winds. They blew the top off the hanger building across the road and scattered sheet metal and lumber all across the farm. Luckily there wasn't much more damage than that aside from a few smaller tree branches laying in the yard. We also lucked out because the framers hadn't started putting up the walls yet otherwise they probably would have blown down!
On September 26th, 2009 we were married and began our lives together as husband and wife. Seth's Dad offered to move out of the old Bartlett farmhouse and allow us to move in once we were married. Once we moved in we realized it would take quite a bit to make it feel like home. We spent hours of hard work painting, patching plaster, and decorating. Joanna's parents lended us a hand which helped us out a lot. During our first year, we slowly realized the old house would need even more work if it were to make it in the long run. Seth's Grandpa Bartlett recommended we tear it down and start over with a new house. He said, "It has served its purpose and it's time for a new beginning." With that we began making plans to build a new house. On April 26th, the old place was torn down. It was a bittersweet day but we are excited to build a new home together on the Bartlett Farm!

The Jobsite
Formed up and pouring walls.
Footings poured.
Here is a "before" pic of the old farmhouse from the spring of our 1st year living in it.
And here is an "after" pic from after the demolition
This is what the old farmhouse looked like a few years ago. It's the most recent picture I could find that was taken from a similar angle as the rest of the jobsite pictures.
Here is what was left after the old house was razed and cleaned up.
Here are three panoramic pics of the jobsite taken from the top of the farm shop showing the recently dug hole for the new house's basement and garage walls.
